1. Introduction

Zinq ("we," "our," or "us") is a social app built by M2 Tech Montreal Inc. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Zinq mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

Phone number or email address (for authentication)
Display name, nickname, and profile photo
Contacts (if you grant permission, for finding friends already on Zinq)
Photos, videos, and text content you post as Vibes
Diary entries (private by default, only visible to you)
Device information (model, OS version, push notification tokens)
IP address and approximate location (for local recommendations)
Usage data (interactions with AI agents, game scores)

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the Service
To authenticate your identity
To connect you with people in your contacts who are also on Zinq
To power AI agent features (wellness coaching, travel planning, diary analysis, games)
To send push notifications about new vibes, charms, and game turns
To improve the Service and fix bugs

4. AI & Your Data

Zinq uses Google Gemini AI to power agent features (coaching, travel, games, diary summaries). Your conversations with AI agents are processed by Google's Gemini API. We use the paid tier which means your data is NOT used to train Google's models. Diary entries are private and only analyzed when you explicitly interact with an AI agent. Agent conversation summaries are stored to provide continuity across sessions.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Media files (photos, videos) are stored in Google Cloud Storage with signed URLs that expire. We use JWT-based authentication and HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Your Diary is Private

Vibes marked as "diary only" are visible only to you. They are not shared with connections, not visible in anyone else's feed, and not used for any purpose other than your own diary features (summaries, montages, roasts, milestones). You control what is private and what is shared.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only in these cases:

With Google Gemini API for AI agent processing (paid tier, no model training)
With Firebase for authentication and push notifications
With law enforcement if required by law
With your explicit consent (e.g., sharing a vibe via link)

8. Data Retention

Vibes expire after 24 hours by default (except diary vibes and agent vibes which persist). You can delete your account at any time, which removes all your data including vibes, connections, diary entries, and agent conversation history.

9. Your Rights

You can:

Access your data through the app (diary, vibes, connections)
Delete your account and all associated data
Control which contacts are synced
Choose what to share and what stays in your diary
Opt out of push notifications

10. Children

Zinq is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
